Green tech and sustainable living are hot topics these days, especially with the price of energy and other commodities on the rise. There is also a dawning realization that, despite our apparent technological mastery of the elements, Mother Nature is still the one in charge. When Greensburg, Kansas was virtually wiped out by an EF5 tornado on May 4, 2007, its citizens were provided with a bittersweet opportunity: to reinvent their town to become the role model for environmentally sustainable living in the 21st century.
